Mobile Minds: BTI SAT Prep
Jerica Williams sat down with Robert Icart and Ivory Hunter to discuss BTI's commitment to helping their student athletes do their best on their upcoming SAT tests.
Jerica Williams: Why is SAT Prep important to BTI athletes and your pro-gram?
Robert Icart: Because our main objective is to get athletes into the best university possible, it is important that we nurture the academic and athletic components.
Jerica Williams: Ivory, how does Mobile Minds help the BTI program with accomplishing their academic goals?
Ivory Hunter: We believe that athletics and education is a marriage. But to get into a good college (with a scholarship) a great SAT score is requires. Which in turn requires a lot of hard work, dedication, reading, planning, and familiarity with the techniques and strategies of the SAT.
Jerica Williams: Before Mobile Minds was contracted to administer your SAT Prep program, what SAT prep program did you have in place for BTI?
Robert Icart: Before Mobile Minds, SAT preparation was provided by a former BTI player, Andrew Beck (Stanford University). He created a program for SAT Prep that increased our players SAT scores. Andrew was one of BTI’s top students and had the highest SAT score in BTI history. He also did a terrific job of relating to the players.
Jerica Williams: Ivory, how do student athletes benefit from your program?
Ivory Hunter: Our students will walk out of this program with the confidence to tackle any question in the SAT and be able to utilize all the strategies and techniques taught to them. We aspire to instill in our students not only the ability to comprehend any question to the best of their knowledge, but also learning skills that will help them in college as well as their future endeavors.
Jerica Williams: Robert, in your experience with Mobile Minds, how have they helped your program?
Robert Icart: After the 3 week program, our players were much more confident and prepared to take the SAT test. Mobile Minds administered 3 practice exams, graded them, and did an individual analysis on each players strengths and weakness. As a result, our players had higher test scores.
Jerica Williams: Ivory, how would you describe your programs experience with the BTI SAT Prep program?
Ivory Hunger: Leading the SAT Prep Course at BTI was not only a great pleasure, but it was highly rewarding to see the students progress over the weeks. The BTI athletes were inquisitive and interactive which helped our tutors understand their needs better, answer all their questions and teach them the necessary tactics. The students walked away with a better understanding of the test, writing skills, techniques to tackle questions in Math and English and eventually, significantly improved SAT practice-test scores.
